| This site has been designed to compliment
the "Disease Watch" CD ROM and Information Kit, forming
a comprehensive training and awareness resource for aquatic animal
disease emergencies.
Australia earns over $2.4 billion from fish and aquaculture
production, and the market is growing each year. In addition, recreational
and sport fishing is a pastime for 3 million Australians who spend
$3.5 billion annually in pursuit of their fishing. The value of
our commercial and recreational fisheries is enhanced by our freedom
from many fish diseases that cause problems overseas. We want to
keep it that way, and the training kit is one of the tools we will
use to protect our fishing and aquaculture sectors.
The site
has been designed so that the latest information can be published
here quickly and efficiently. It also contains:
- A "Discussion Forum" where information,
questions and answers can be "Posted" by anyone interested
in the subject.
- A Links section where links to other relevant Web
Sites will be updated on a regular basis
.And a
- Resources area where relevant documents can be
accessed and downloaded.
This site and the Awareness CD ROM Kit builds
on the efforts of both industry and government to date, and looks
to assist the continued development of a profitable and sustainable
Australian fisheries and aquaculture industry.
