Disease-Watch - Aquaculture Awareness Kit

Hi everyone. Well as you are all aware, The Fisheries Research and Development Corporation last year called for tenders to research, produce, distribute and promote a comprehensive training and awareness kit for aquatic animal disease emergencies. Big Time® Media were awarded the contract and have been working hard to develop what has become a comprehensive CD ROM with supporting documentation and a supporting web site that can updated readily.

THE AWARENESS KIT

The Awareness Kit comes as a CD ROM (PC only) or VHS videotape. Background notes are available as PDF documents (available on the CD Rom and also on the supporting Web Site) as well as hard copies for those who do not have a PC to play the CD pr access the Web.

The CD ROM

The CD ROM will ‘auto load’ once placed in your CD tray and is packed with video, supporting documents (in PDF format), links to a supporting web site (that mirrors the ‘look and feel’ and the content of the CD ROM so that updates can be made at any time).

The CD Rom has ‘hyperlinks’ to many other web sites and a discussion forum or bulletin Board so that comments can be made for other interested parties about current Aquaculture Disease Awareness Issues.

The VHS Tape

The videotape holds all the video segments that are found on the CD ROM (for those who do not have access to a PC).

Speakers Notes

Speakers Notes are available to assist those who may wish to use the kit to teach others or raise awareness of these important issues in a group situation.

The PDF documents (that sit on the CD ROM) can also be printed out and left as handouts to community groups or individual companies.

The Support Web Site

The address of this Web Site is www.disease-watch.com. This can be accessed directly by ‘jumping’ to it from the CD ROM or by simply typing in the URL into Internet Explorer.

The On Line Forum

This is available on the Web Site and is a place where information, questions and answers can be "Posted" by anyone interested in the subject for others to read and comment on.

Where to from here?

The Fisheries Research and Development Corporation will send updates every month outlining developments with the project and any additional resources that have been placed On Line for your benefit. If you do not wish to remain on this mailing list, please click the remove me now button here or on future monthly updates.

Special Thanks

The Awareness CD ROM Kit and the associated Web Site builds on the efforts of both industry and government to date, and looks to assist the continued development of a profitable and sustainable Australian fisheries and aquaculture industry.

Big Time® Media wish to thank the many State & Federal Government and other Peak Body professionals that assisted with their time and advice during the production of this Awareness Kit. Also, the many private & government Aquaculture farms and facilities that kindly allowed us to film on their premises sometimes at very short notice.

The preparation of this awareness kit was made possible by a grant from Australian Government’s Budget Initiative “Building a National Approach to Animal and Plant Health”. The grant was administered by the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation.

Finally, a special thanks to a few individuals who went out of their way to assist with additional file footage or extra photographs drawn from their private collections.
